20th Annual Maine Fiber Frolic - Knitting Short Row Workshop
Knitting Short Rows: A Brief Introduction to Different Methods with Marin Melchior (MarinJaKnits) (Sunday 12-3)
The class will be organized to teach you and have you practice a couple of the most popular short row techniques.
You will work on a small swatch (or sample) starting with a more basic, potentially familiar method & move into lesser known techniques. Many people may be competent in one of these, but by showing you others and addressing when I like to use them may give you a better handle on what is best for you! The goal is to give you a basic over view of several popular techniques and a chance to practice them. You will produce a small piece that can be used as a sample or you may wish to reproduce multiples as quilt squares or find another creative use.
KNITTING KNOWLEDGE NEEDED - Casting On, Knitting & Purling, Using Markers (slipping, placing), General understanding of knitting terms and abbreviations.
What to Bring (Materials and Homework): Needles and yarn, stitch markers, at least ONE removable marker. About 100g of TWO CONTRASTING colors. I suggest Worsted Weight & US 07's (4.5 mm). PLEASE choose the yarn weight and needle size you are MOST comfortable working with. HOMEWORK - Get a jump on the class, arrive with your CAST ON DONE...
